Michigan State Flag | Eder Endura-Nylon Outdoor Flag
Michigan's state flag displays the state coat of arms on a dark blue field. The shield features a man standing on a peninsula with his hand raised in peace and a rifle at his side, set against a sunrise over a lake. An elk and a moose support the shield, while a bald eagle perches above holding an olive branch and arrows. Three Latin mottoes appear: "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of Many, One) on the eagle's banner, "Tuebor" (I Will Defend) on the shield, and "Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice" (If You Seek a Pleasant Peninsula, Look About You) below.
This Eder Endura-Nylon Michigan flag is built for the Great Lakes climate that shapes the Wolverine State. Lake-effect snow, freezing rain, gusty offshore winds, and humid summers create a year-round challenge for outdoor flags. Coastal communities along Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Superior, and Lake Erie face salt-free but wind-driven moisture that accelerates fabric wear. The 200-denier Endura-Nylon with SolarGuard finish provides strong UV resistance and color retention through Michigan's dramatic seasonal swings. Reinforced fly-end stitching handles the lake winds. Canvas heading with brass grommets. Made in the USA by Eder Flag.
About the Michigan State Flag
Michigan became the 26th state on January 26, 1837. The coat of arms was designed by Lewis Cass, the territorial governor, in 1835. The man on the peninsula represents Michigan's frontier spirit and hospitality, standing with hand raised to greet visitors while remaining armed to defend his home. The elk and moose reflect Michigan's abundant wildlife, and the bald eagle represents federal sovereignty. Michigan is the only state with two separate land masses (the Upper and Lower Peninsulas), connected since 1957 by the Mackinac Bridge. The state motto, "If You Seek a Pleasant Peninsula, Look About You," is the longest of any state and perfectly captures Michigan's identity as a place defined by its Great Lakes geography.
